Woman Spins, Full Force, Off Grid
Installation with latex house paint on wall, gouache on graph paper, string, rock, painter's tape, wood panels, found magazine pages, xerox copies

Installed at Vermont Studio Center, July 2012

This encircling installation subjectivizes a female model from a 1961 issue of Life Magazine. The woman was photographed with a mercador projector, the same device used to create maps from spinning globes. Here, her distorted image looks out the studio window to the Gihon River cutting through metamorphic rock and, beyond that, an historic house being renovated. The material on the floor and walls charts her spinning.
